Telegraph - Vol. 3

I've been privileged to work this past week, the beginning of Winter 2023, at the lighthouse on Nobbys-Whibayganba Headland (Newcastle, Australia) as part of their artist-in-residence program.

A makeshift recording studio is at the base of the lighthouse, in which I recorded two instrumental pieces: one built around the piano, and another built around the pipe organ, with accompanying electroacoustic elements.

These comprise my 'Winter' pieces for the third volume in my Telegraph series.

You can download these compositions on my Bandcamp page (wrenasmir.bandcamp.com) or play them on any streaming service.

My warmest gratitude to Lighthouse Arts for the opportunity to record there this past week.

For the above ‘Telegraph Vol. 3’ video, I generated some real-world images of Lighthouse buildings that could also function as pipe organs. These buildings do not seem impossible, I can imagine them putting out light to incoming ships whilst also drawing in surrounding ocean air and pumping it through immense reverberant cylinders to produce salt air toccatas. I’ve included some of my favourite of these concept images below:
